INTRODUCTION

This is where the kings and queens come to get their crowns, and where they are laid to rest after doing their business to the people. The last coronation here was Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. She is still going strong.

The Abbey is half church and half museum, and a magnificent structure. It started off as an abbey church for the Benedictines in 1050 and made its way through tumultuous English centuries with additions and rebuildings.
