INTRODUCTION

From pre-history through the Greek and Roman periods, the Middle Ages to the 20th century, this museum has plenty. Among the famous items on display is the Rosetta Stone from Egypt, originally stolen by the French who had to turn it over to the British as spoils of war. Items from the Stone Age and Celtic Britain are on display along with a huge collection of coins going back thousands of years.
