How To Europe

The Complete Travelers Handbook

By John Bermont

A photo of Antwerp Central Station is featured on the cover of HOW TO EUROPE: The Complete Travelers Handbook.

How To Europe trains you to travel like a European. The author, that's me, is an American who has spent a good number of years living, working, and traveling throughout Europe, writing and photographing along the way.

The 4th edition will save you more than its cost - many times over - on air fares, hotels, transportation, dining out, and hanging out in Europe. This is the original do-it-yourself travel guide to Europe, sans pareil. See on-line chapter 1 for more insight about how this book came about and the qualifications of the author.

Look over the Table of Contents for the on-line edition. Click on one of the chapters to get an idea of the approach this book takes. Chapter 17 on trains is one of the more popular chapters with web surfers and in links with other internet travel sites. Everything on line is FREE.

And have a look at some snippets from the fine book reviews. As you can see, there is no other book even approaching the scope and detail of How To Europe.

Carpe diem. Vivere bene! Gratia Deo.

A SHORT HISTORY

DEDICATION, from the first edition, 1982:

In memory of Annette Kampinga of Haarlem, The Netherlands. Annette was my secretary and companion, and became a stewardess to roam the world. It was her invitation that led me to return to Europe, and her encouragement that got me to write this book. Annette, 25, was murdered in a terrorist bomb blast at the Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya on New Years Eve of 1981.

This photo was taken in the apartment Annette shared with fellow flight attendant Nikki and my old buddy Ken. I'm in her lap, summer 1978, after my return to The Netherlands. This was the eve of my three month Eurail Pass expedition throughout Europe seriously taking notes and photographs to write How To Europe. See Annette in uniform at Annette Kampinga, KLM Flight Attendant.
